Accounting Link not Connecting to QuickBooks Online - Export Errors

Connection issues with QuickBooks Online may result in errors, with the most common being export errors. When experiencing a connection issue with QuickBooks Online, follow the steps below to troubleshoot. These steps pertain to the following error messages: 

 

  • ERROR: Unable to open a connection to QuickBooks Online! Please try again later.
  • Temporarily unable to connect to QuickBooks Online. If this issue persists, please contact support. Would you like to try again? 
  • ERROR: Parameter cannot be null.
  • CONNECTION FAILED: Unable to connect to QuickBooks Online. You will be directed to a webpage with instructions on how to resolve the connection issue! If this issue persists, please contact support. 


​Attempt the steps below, in order, to fix the connection issue with QuickBooks Online. 

 


Step 1. Wait 1 minute and attempt to export again


In some instances, there is a temporary connection issue to QuickBooks Online. Wait one minute after you receive the error message, and attempt to export again. 

 

 


Step 2. Test the Connection


Select Configuration in the top ribbon of Accounting Link.

 

 

  • Select the Test button to test the connection to QuickBooks Online.

 

Was the Connection Successful?

YES: Close the Configuration window (X in top right) and try to Export your daily activity again.

NO: Follow the remaining steps to reset the connection to QuickBooks Online.

 

 


Step 3. Reset the Connection to QuickBooks Online


Select Configuration in the top ribbon of Accounting Link.

 

 

While holding the Shift key, select the Test button in Accounting Link Configuration.

  • You should receive a message that “You will be directed to a webpage to complete your connection information, click here when finished.”

 

  • Key in your QuickBooks Online Admin credentials into the browser that opens, and select the correct company file.

 

  • Once the connection to QuickBooks Online is successful, this message will appear

 

  • Hit OK to the message within Accounting Link Configuration to see the successful connection to the Company File.
